Ah, gentoo... Yeah, I'm not surprised that they broke
libpcap/tcptrace - they have a habit of breaking pretty much every
piece of software they touch, from what I've seen. I'm not sure why
they would be mucking with the file format of libpcap dumps, but I
would not be surprised at all.
